Constructed 22,000 sq. ft. warehouse addition in Elk Grove Village, IL to support customers requiring slit and embossed products

2000

Installed a 72″ slitting line in Elk Grove Village to handle the appliance product requirements

Added coil capacity for up to 50,000 lb. max coils

1999

Ford Motor ۶Ƶ implements the first use of Quiet Steel® laminated metal ever into the Ford Ranger and Ford Explorer Sport Trac vehicle body structure dash panel,  this is the first use of weldable laminated steel in a body in white for acoustic optimization

1999

Constructed and installed a 62″ wide metal embossing in Elk Grove Village, IL with speeds of 500 feet per minute and coil capacity of 40,000 lbs. for appliance embossing

1998

Completed a 57,400 sq. ft. addition in Elk Grove Village, IL to provide additional warehousing and process requirements

1997

Completed construction of Elk Grove Village plant #7 to house new coil coating line #18, capable of coating 62″ wide coils at 500 feet per minute, plant also houses MSC/Pre Finish Metals corporate offices and Elk Grove Village operations

1993

Acquired the Middletown, OH coil coating facility from Armco Steel 60″ wide, 400 feet per minute line #15, and a 60″ slitter

1980s

1989

Built a 12” wide, 100 feet per minute laboratory coating line at in Elk Grove Village for research and development of specialty paint systems, Polycore® materials, and powder coating technology

1986

Retrofitted the 72″ Walbridge coil coating with high speed electroplating capability to meet emerging demands of the automotive industry, this 311,300 sf addition was designed to coat, or plate, or coat and plate in the same pass

1980

Production rate reached 510,000 tons of coated steel annually

1980

Major expansion with the opening of a 267,000 sq. ft. Plant in Walbridge, OH, this plant houses the largest capacity coil coating line in the world with 72″ wide 700 feet per minute

1970s

1972

Expanded Elk Grove Village IL facility #2, moved line #2 from Plant 1 and converted into a two coat line and increased capacity

1971

Pre-Finish Metals became affiliated with ۶Ƶ and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of ۶Ƶ

Constructed new facility in Rancho Cucamonga, CA to house new 54″ coating line and 54″ slitter

Constructed new facility – Plant #2 in Elk Grove Village, IL to house new 54″ coating line #4 and 54″ slitter

Expanded Plant #1 and installed a new 48″ Tandem Coating Line and 48″ slitter
